Le Clos, a premier luxury lifestyle retailer specialising in fine wine and spirits, has announced the sale of The Macallan’s complete six-bottle set in the Lalique Six Pillars Collection.
The historic whisky collection from the world-famous Speyside distillery was sold for US$816,748, a record-breaking amount for the whole collection in a single transaction.
According to Rare Whisky 101, bottles of The Macallan have appreciated in value by 35 per cent in the past 12 months alone, whilst a previous full set sold at Bonhams in 2017 for $485,244, showing a 68 per cent increase in just five years.
This extremely limited collection is one of the most valuable ever created, and the sale of the entire set demonstrates the lasting attraction of these two brands, which were handpicked by the Le Clos team in Dubai International (DXB).
Macallan x Lalique Collaboration
The Macallan and renowned French crystal producer Lalique collaborated for more than a decade to create The Macallan in Lalique Six Pillars Collection. Each release in this special line of limited edition decanters is inspired by the foundation stones of The Macallan’s character and the formation of its rich spirit. Every decanter in the collection is a work of art, encasing some of the world’s most coveted single malt whiskies.
Auction Achievements
In 2017, Bonhams sold a whole set of The Macallan in Lalique for $485,244, a 68 percent increase in just five years. The deal reaffirms Le Clos’ dedication to sourcing the world’s rarest and most exclusive bottles and collections of fine wine and premium spirits through its partners and bringing them to the luxury retail market. Previous achievements include the sale of two ultra-rare bottles of The Macallan 1926 single malt whisky for a record-breaking US$1.2 million in 2018 – the first The Macallan 1926 to be sold in ten years.
