There is nothing more appealing than walking out your backdoor and into a space that reflects your home.
For simplicity, make it an extension of the look your home already has. One that makes you want to spend copious amounts of time outdoors while lounging and dining in comfort – like a living and dining room, but outdoors! Create a space with comfortable with practical furnishings and accessories that are not precious, but pretty. Especially in warmer climates, this space will get tremendous use nearly year round. The more protected the space, like using cabanas, canopies, couches, heaters, all of course weatherproof, makes for the ideal spot to settle into even if the weather is less than perfect. Depending on the space you have to work with, you can create a number of beautiful and practical spaces. It also depends on what your priority is: is it a place to lounge, a place to dine, or both, or perhaps a place to cook as well; some designs include an outdoor kitchen (a hot trend in North American West Coast climates).
The Evolution of Outdoor Furniture
Living outdoors and spending time outside has always played a role in our lives. The Egyptians used the same materials, wood and stone, for both their indoor and outdoor furniture. Greeks used primarily wood. Camp chairs were made out of wood and canvas typically used during the Civil Wars. In the 50’s and 60’s patio furniture was made of resin or aluminum frame and plastic webbing. Old farmhouses, the deck was an extension of the house and played a vital role in socialization and the porch swing was a very popular piece of furniture. Wicker outdoor furniture was very popular in the Victorian age. Wrought iron furniture is the preferred choice for areas with weather not indicative to soft furnishings. The type of furniture you choose depends on what you prefer and the weather where you live as it will effect care and maintenance.

There is nothing more party like than sitting outside to a meal. Whether done on a white linen table setting or casually picnic style, it is a fabulous way to enjoy a meal. Dining alfresco depending on the location is also possible at some restaurants which is a lovely experience, especially on those perfect warm summer evenings.
The Outdoor Eating Basket
This is the time of year for casual and relaxed. Eating outside can add a challenge to the dining process, though, as you might have to move your table settings outdoors. To save multiple trips and to make it easier to eat outside you can create your own outdoor eating basket and setting the table outdoors will be instantly easier!
