LUXURY BRIEF
MB&F
Artistic concept laboratory of fine watches
Founded by Maximilian Büsser, who after decades of complying to the constraints of corporate watches, broke the chains in 2005 and launched MB&F - Maximilian Büsser & Friends.
MB&F is an artistic concept laboratory founded on a simple idea: to bring together groups of independent watchmakers to create radical timepieces known as Horological or Legacy Machines.
MB&F exploits its synergy to become much bigger than the sum of its parts by developing teams of brilliant individuals, leveraging their passion and creativity, and crediting each person’s critical role. They adapt classic, high-quality watchmaking into three-dimensional kinetic sculptures while respecting but never being bound by tradition.
MB&F x BVLGARI - FlyingT Allegra
The Inspiration
Both Bulgari and MB&F display strong character in their respective fields yet are also very different. The Rome-based Maison is known for its love of cabochon-cut coloured gems in jewellery watch creations, expressing Mediterranean warmth and exuberance – diametrically opposed to the currently prevailing classicism. Born in 2005, MB&F took the decision to design radical timepieces exploring previously uncharted conceptual territory within a watch industry environment characterised by stubborn conventionalism.
Paradoxes, Story and Relationships
The narrative of Bulgari and MB&F’s relationship begins with an interaction between Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Bulgari’s Product Creation Executive Director, and Maximilian Büsser, MB&F’s Founder and Creative Director.
The result is FlyingT Allegra, a collaborative and unexpected feminine creation that combines a variety of skills, but most importantly, two perspectives.
This is also a narrative about an unusual relationship, of two paradoxes coming together to produce a single, nuanced whole. It’s the story of a collision between two odd and uncommon creative techniques. When MB&F and Bulgari decide to collaborate, the result can only be remarkable.
This amazing collaboration extends far beyond the area of the intricate feminine jewellery timepiece. It powerfully demonstrates the power of two by highlighting two perceptions of the world, two interpretations of creativity that are drastically diverse in form yet unite in content inside an integrated and harmonious co-creation.
