Bentley’s Director of Design, Munich-born, self-professed Anglophile, Stefan Sielaff, has spent more than 30 years in automotive design. In this interview Stefan explains why his lifetime dream was to work for a British brand, and how he got here. What came first for you, was it design or cars? When I was a young boy I was not the classic car designer, I wasn’t sketching cars at four years old. I was more interested in doing fine arts, sculpture.  I was driving my parents crazy by working with huge marble blocks in their garage when I was 14 or 15. I was always very interested in cars but I never was able to combine these two passions, so it only started when I was doing my high school diploma – I had to ask myself what I was going to do for a living. At this time I was getting…

EHUD LANIADO Ehud Laniado, seller of two of the four most expensive diamonds sold in the history of Sotheby’s, speaks to EAT LOVE SAVOR What drew you to the diamond industry and continues to fuel your passion? My passion for diamonds is multifaceted. Decades ago, I discovered my fascination for identifying the miniscule details which determine what a rough diamond can sell for once in its polished form. It was a skill I mastered with my own hands before the advent of any of the sophisticated mapping technologies used today. I built my way up in the industry, starting my career in the African bush buying diamonds on behalf of an Israeli company. I moved my family out to the Central African Republic in my early 20s for the job and I later moved to Antwerp where I lived for over 20 years. Today, I’m equally as interested in nurturing…

Interview with Artist Spar Street What inspired your philosophies about art and your zeal for creating art? I was born into the home of an irrepressibly creative artist, my mother, who to this day can create more art on a daily basis than any other person I have ever met. My entire childhood was an immersion in a world of fine art that few children get to experience. I saw how art was a form of play, a form of communication, a form of exploration, a way dreaming dreams and healing pain, and a means for expressing love, caring and value. I had dyslexia so severely that I could not read until the fifth grade. I was years behind my peers, which provided an ideal environment to develop nasty self-concepts like “I am stupid,” “I am not good enough,” “I will never fit in,” “I am not lovable.” I remember…

I spotted a gap in the personal introductions market at the beginning of 2000, which then led to the creation of the first exclusive luxury matchmaking company with relationship psychology at its core. While running my psychotherapy practice, I noticed that many of my clients were highly desirable; successful, affluent, intelligent and attractive, yet, because of their busy lifestyles they had difficulty in meeting a compatible partner. Researching the market, there was no other agency offering luxury matchmaking services exclusively to such exceptional people. I decided to take the risk of moving from Psychotherapy to the world of Matchmaking and clearly my service was much needed, as I quickly…
