Fitting right in with the Astrology of Horology series is the watch brand SEAH. Named after the ancient word for “time” the watches represent the 12 astrological signs. Designer Rachel Levy wanted to create a watch that not only told secular time but also indicated one’s personality on the wrist, a spiritual guide to the soul.

While a timepiece in its physical form reveals a person’s taste, SEAH pieces are intended to reconnect the wearer to nature’s life forces as seen in the sun, moon and stars. Every detail signifies this world:  the round case represents the globe or universe and the bezel is engraved with the infinite waves of the ocean. Each hour marker represents a heavenly star; the center of the watch features the sun and the hands are reminiscent of the sun’s rays. At the top of the dial sits the zodiac sign to express the inner traits.

Levy started the SEAH project seven years ago when she went on her journey of study in the sciences of astrology and astronomy and the ties of these two in ancient times.  Included with the watches is a book explaining the 12 astrological signs and their characteristics.

Luxury Watches That Connect with You

Since this line of watches captures the traits of the astrological signs, it’s apropos to look at the Levy’s sign and her inspiration for the watches.  As a Sagittarius, Levy is creative and compassionate person with a free-spirited independence that seeks innovation. The daughter of two Holocaust survivors, she has a sense of the immediate and in- the- now because of the preciousness and ephemeral nature of life.

With this orientation toward living, Levy came up with the concept for SEAH watches after living through a hurricane in Florida. She contemplated on an existence before electricity and clocks when people were more in tune with the stars and themselves. SEAH is designed to bring people back to their roots.

Seven years of research were put into the project before the watches were unveiled. In the collection are jewelry bracelets as well.  Levy will expand the line to also feature necklaces, earrings, bracelets and cuff links in Summer 2011.

SEAH watches, in a unisex 38mm case water resistant to 10 ATM, come with either quartz or mechanical movements, both Swiss made. They also use genuine handset VS diamonds with a diamond certificate ensuring their quality.  Sapphire crystals are non-reflective with non-reflective sapphire crystals.

Moreover you receive a custom clasp on a genuine hand-made alligator strap. Cases are in stainless steel or stainless with a 10 micron gold plating in 18-karat rose or yellow gold.  Levy also offers a 3-year warranty on her watches.

I’ve worn the watches and they are really elegant and well-done, suitable for a male or female wrist. Such a unique product comes at at reasonable price for the detail and quality: $1495-$2995.
