The Radisson Blu hotel in Antwerp has unveiled a completely new look and feel following an extensive programme of refurbishment across the entire hotel, with total investment reaching over €9m.
The project, which began in early 2017, has touched every element of the hotel – from brand new bedrooms, to two new restaurants, enhanced Meetings and Events offering and an upgraded leisure center and public areas, to the installation of a Starbucks on the hotel’s ground floor.

New Design Pays Tribute to Heritage
The project design, by architect Alex Kravetz, has been respectfully considered in order to pay tribute to the heritage and original designs of the hotel, by Michael Graves, one of the pioneers of neo-modernism architecture in the US, with the hotel one of the few examples in Europe. In giving the hotel a new look, Alex Kravetz’ goal was to create a link with the hotel’s foundations, the city’s history and the future of Antwerp, whilst taking the current trend of industrial design and adding in a twist of chic elegance to the overall styling. An exciting new addition to the hotel is the installation of the comic room as a showcase of some of Belgium’s world famous comic characters, and acknowledgement of the strong graffiti comic movement in the city.
Stylish and Contemporary Feel
Now complete, all 253 of the hotel’s guest bedrooms and apartments offer a stylish and contemporary feel with a design that fits perfectly with the hotel’s city center location. Each room has been upgraded with new beds, bedding, flooring, curtains, lighting, soft furnishings and the addition of sleek new furniture, including the famed Radisson Blu ‘signature chair’. The bright and spacious bedrooms are dressed in warm tones, providing a modern look. The bespoke feature wallpaper in the guest bedrooms is a statement of art in itself, showcasing Antwerp’s most characteristic landmarks, with the magnificent train station in the center. In-room technology is enhanced with the addition of smart TVs, and the hotel continues to offer the Radisson Blu brand’s signature fast and free WiFi.
To add to the overall transformation of the hotel, the public areas and lobby have been fully renovated and a Starbucks coffee shop installed on the ground floor. An exciting new restaurant, complete with new dining concept, is being unveiled by the hotel in June.
Upstairs, the Windows of Antwerp restaurant, the hotel’s dedicated breakfast room, and the neighboring Diamond Lounge, both offering stunning city views and flooded with natural light, are sporting a sleek and sophisticated new look.
Renowned as one of the strongest Meetings and Events venues in Antwerp, the Radisson Blu’s refurbishment has also seen upgrades to the impressive Meetings and Events facilities. The hotel’s 15 meeting rooms, spread over two floors, are included in the renovation scope. A modern new décor and new furniture in every room enhances the experience for meetings, conferences and social events.
