Jewel of a Vacation: World’s First Diamond Safari

Experience a unique once-in-a-lifetime experience to the mineral-rich west coast of South Africa culminating in selecting a rough diamond to be cut, polished, and set into a piece of custom jewelry.

This exclusive diamond safari, created by Ellerman House and Benguela Diamonds, originates in Cape Town where guests board a private charter flight to Port Nolloth on South Africa’s west coast.

Dine and Dive for Diamonds

After breakfast at a luxurious coastal villa, guests have the option to either join Benguela’s dive masters (PADI Open Water 1 certificate required) or wait for the divers to return with seabed gravel, which is then sorted using a vibrating pan system so the heavier stones, including garnets and diamonds, are separated from the rest.

Private Charter Flights, Chef Prepared Meals and Fine Wines

A lunch of fresh seafood and South African wines prepared by a private villa chef is served back on land, followed by an afternoon of gemstone sorting with experts from the Benguela team. The custom jewelry will be completed and certified within three working days, before flying back to Cape Town aboard a private charter.

Hands On and Total Olfactory Experience

Throughout this once-in-a-lifetime day-trip, travelers will be treated to gourmet meals, lectures and hands-on training on the grading of diamonds, as well as a Dom Perignon experience (a guided Champagne pairing and culinary program). The diamond safari is priced at USD $16,125 per person and includes road transfers, return air transfer on a private jet, and all food and beverages. It does not include the purchase price of a diamond, or designing and manufacturing the custom jewelry. The full-brochure can be viewed here.
