Learning Cognac Blending From a Master Blender It was an off-cruise excursion to Cognac, where the divine brandy was distilled. Only four of us went to the Camus Chateau, where we first ate our lunch; then, went to Master Blending room, and learned how to blend Cognac from Camus’ Master Blender and Global Brand Ambassador, Frédéric Dezauzier. The best XO Cognacs for 2016 This list is based on taste alone; a completely blind taste test – we didn’t know the brand, and we didn’t see any packaging or bottles. We rated our tasting results using a point system. This was based on the valuation averages of each member of the tasting team. These notes were structured, combining tasting aromas that were split into four general taste categories: Flower, Fruit, Wood, Spice. The ‘Smooth’ value is based on a 1-10 star rating.  And here are the results… 96 points: Baron Otard XO A surprising winner…  We first tasted this Cognac some years ago during our Chateau de Cognac & Otard visit. The History of Cognac, dating back four centuries, Cognac, was a recognized wine-growing area long before cognac was ‘invented”, this area has wine producing records that date back to the 3rd century AD. Both the region and the beverage Cognac has a long history; rich with tales of  nations, merchants, kings and aristocrats, wars, cold winters and hardships. Despite all this, as it aged, the product kept getting better and better, century after century. Some have referred to it as “the spirit of the gods”. What is Cognac?
