FORCES OF NATURE COLLECTION: GRAVITY EARRINGS
Conceptual fine jewelry designers, brothers Guy and Max Shepherd have been creating unconventional and beautiful jewels for more than a decade via innovative and experimental methods. Their pieces are imbued with design and concept which aim to provoke thought. In this very special GUY&MAX creation Gravity Earrings from the Forces of Nature Collection, they were inspired by balance and the natural world. The earrings are kinetic allowing for a double pendulum movement between the three interlocking components. Cleverly balanced on pins the inner and central components swing in isolation of each other, the central sapphire component always pointing downwards aligning with gravity; a similar idea to gimbals used historically for ship’s compasses. As well as this hypnotic movement the earrings also have a unique hanging element, the hook of the earring is threaded through the back of the ear giving them a much more beautifully weighted effect which allows the mechanism to flow. A fantastic and unique modern design.
