Online gallery ArtAndOnly has announced a new collection entitled World States which represents the important cultural significance and extraordinary diversity of the prestigious contemporary work available to view worldwide and buy online.
World States, curated by ArtAndOnly, explores our understanding of cultural belonging and nationality, of history, and the effects of globalisation.
World States features two important works “Alone on the boat” and “Self portrait underwater” by the Chinese artist, Li Tianbing whose art is a recreation of his own identity in a China of the one-child policy, introduced in 1979, and an exploration of its human consequences.
A piece entitled “Li Wei falls to HK” shows the Li Wei, the celebrated Chinese artist and photographer magically suspended upside down in Hong Kong harbour.
The radical American contemporary artist, Mark Flood’s work explores the modern world with his piece ‘Grey World Microsoft 5’, 2014, a haunting, blurred and beautiful version of a screengrab. Using traditional stoneworking methods, Egyptian sculptor Armen Agop represents the ancient world with his timeless and sublime minimalism.
World States includes a major work by Fabienne Verdier whose art bridges the dialogue between Eastern and Western artistic traditions and whose work is in the permanent collection of Musée National d’Art Moderne, Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, France. This exceptional piece, “Fractalscapes 1 – Paysage dans l’energie d’un trait” by the French artist is a Vertical Polyptych made up of four panels whose provenance is direct from the artist’s studio.
Two Korean artists present a multi-dimensional view from Korea today with pop artist Koo Kang Hyung’s large portrait of the great footballer, Pele and Kim Minjung’s delicate rice paper work “Pieno di Vuoto 2”
Very Carefully Curated Art and Dematerialising the Gallery Concept
ArtAndOnly curates very carefully the works it presents for sale on its site and this curatorial service also addresses the question of how to view the art for sale in the absence of the traditional gallery. The new collection of work offered to the market by ArtAndOnly includes works located in Basel, Switzerland, Hong Kong and New York.
Gallerist and ArtAndOnly founder, Frédéric de Senarclens says, “We are dematerialising the gallery concept, allowing for artists and collectors from all over the world to interact and transfer art. ArtAndOnly’s ability to offer viewings accordingly provides a unique solution for collectors, a truly global service.”
He continues “We are signing extraordinary new artists and taking consignments of some extremely important pieces of art. Because our secure storage is worldwide we can point buyers to the best, most collectable work in the country of their choice.”
Online Art Sales Continue to Soar
With online sales soaring, the art world shift to online has up until now concentrated on smaller artists, but the arrival of major works to this market shows expansion and success. In May new research by art insurance company Hiscox, with art market research firm ArtTactic found huge growth in online sales. Fueled by the expansion of a number of online platforms, online sales jumped 24% last year, to a high of $3.27 billion.
