About Almost Essential
Each of the services are personally tested by the two founders Caroline Frankel and Michelle de Biolley; two long-time friends with discerning taste in common, a constant quest for quality, ab epicurean approach to life and passion for interior design. Caroline has styled several homes of friends and friends of friends whilst Michelle has a knack for discovering finds. French and Belgium respectively they have both lived in London for over 25 years. Following on from professional careers in Branding and Executive Search, they were eager to start a business together and felt there was a gap in the market for excellent services that were reasonably priced; Almost essential was born.
The site currently offers over 90 services that cover an array of categories including; Home maintenance; Home decoration; Home management; Entertaining; Health and beauty and Other Essentials; services that don’t fit any of the other categories but which Caroline and Michelle feel are worth sharing; like educational specialists, cultural services, travel experts etc…
Membership Provides Access, Quality Assured
Access to service providers is very easy and done directly through the site by ether ringing them or messaging them. There is small annual fee of £40 to pay which is refundable as soon as a subscriber has spent £400 worth of services. Almost Essential generates its revenues through charging commission to its service providers. Monitoring the quality of the services is very important to the two of them; customers are encouraged to post their reviews of the service providers they used. They are not ratings but qualitative reviews which can be accessed by all subscribers. A minimum of two new services are included each month.
